Paul Wehmeier


Paul is a 2011 graduate of The University of Tennessee College of Law where he earned his J.D magna cum laude and his 2004 undergraduate degree from Ball State University with Honors.

Since 2011 Paul Wehmeier has focused his practice on labor and employment issues and insurance defense. From EEOC charges to wage and hour issues and premises liability, products liability and personal injury cases, Paul has defended his clients and helped them navigate administrative investigation, and state and federal court lawsuits. Paul has also assisted his employment law clients with regulatory compliance to avoid litigation.

Paul has represented clients before the National Labor Relations Board defending unfair labor practice charges. Obtained summary judgment for clients in ADA cases, and speedy closing of EEOC charges in sexual harassment and sex discrimination cases. He has been co-counsel in a products liability cases obtaining defense verdict, and successfully defended on appeal an employment related defamation case.

Paul mentors aspiring lawyers and human resources professionals through his work with the University of Tennessee College of Law. He has twice taught The Labor Relations Law course and developed and taught the University of Tennessee’s Employment and Discrimination’s Compliance course for professional students seeking their master’s degree in legal studies.

Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked for the State of Indiana Departments of Labor and Agriculture. He became uniquely experienced and adept at communicating complex regulatory positions to investigators and decision makers. He brings this experience to his clients’ matters in an effort to successfully resolve and/or prevent adverse findings before litigation is necessary.

From 2017-2021, Paul Wehmeier was named an Employment Law Rising Star in the Mid-South in Super Lawyers Magazine. He also has been named Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” since 2021.

Paul also has experience in the legislative and regulatory processes arising from internships with the Indiana State House of Representatives and the White House of Public Liaison and his work with legislators while employed by the State of Indiana. As a student at the University of Tennessee College of Law Paul was recognized as the outstanding student in Labor Law for the fall term of 2010. Paul has experience serving on non-profit boards including his service as an Elder at WestPark Baptist Church. This experience and his transactional practice experience make him well suited to assist with your contract and other business needs.

In 2020 Jay W. Mader and Paul Wehmeier successfully defended Unfair Labor Practice Charge before the NLRB.

In 2021 Jay Mader and Paul Wehmeier won summary judgment for their client in an Americans with Disabilities Act employment discrimination case.

In 2022 Paul Wehmeier successfully handled a sexual harassment and sex discrimination EEOC Charge.

In 2023 Broderick Young and Paul Wehmeier successfully handled a Charge of Discrimination filed with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission.

In his free time Paul enjoys outdoor cooking, dabbling in state local politics, and serving with his family at WestPark.
